Adope a new puppy, new Live is coming!
When I adopt my first new puppy Zoolii, I am very exciting to finally have my own little furball companion! But those first few weeks with him is really no walk in the park.
On our very first walk together, Zoolii is just totally out of control on the leash, pulling me this way and that. By the time we back home, my shoulder was absolutely killing me! I realize this unbelieveable pup need some serious leash training stat, plus regular long walks to burn off all that pent up shelter energy.
And don’t even get me started on the accidents around the house! Even though I am taking Zoolii out constantly, he still manage to have little “accidents” everywhere – messy piles of poop and pee stains on the carpets, yuck! I was stuck scrubbing it all up day after day. Clearly I needed to double down on the housetraining and crate training to get this pup on track.
Oh and the barking and howling every time I left him alone? So bad! My neighbors were ready to kill me with all the noise complaints. I had to really work on training Zoolii not to freak out when left alone, doing desensitization exercises and leaving interactive toys to occupy him.
Even though Zoolii was the cutest pup, those first few weeks were just so tiring and challenging for me! But I stuck with the training, kept his routine consistent, and after about a month he finally settled in nicely. Now I can’t imagine life without my furry little troublemaker! So it was all worth it in the end.
Getting a new puppy is super exciting! But before we adopt one, it’s really important to think about a few things first.
For starters, dogs need we take time and attention. We have to feed them, walk them, train them, play with them, and give them lots of love every single day. A big commitment! We have to think realistically about our schedule – do we be around enough to care for them properly?
The costs add up too. They need food, toys, vet visits, medicine, grooming supplies, a crate, a bed, the list goes on! Make sure our budget is enough for our new furry friend.

And don’t forget to consider our living space. Our apartment or home whether is big enough for our pup to play and relax comfortably? Some breeds need more room than others.
It’s a lot to think about, but doing your research beforehand helps set you and your potential dog up for success. Adding a dog to your family is wonderful, but you want to make sure it’s at the right time and that you’re fully prepared.
